Join this casual yet informative drop-in drawing class on Wednesdays from 10 AM-12 PM for just $45.00 per session. Great for those who would like to either brush up on basic drawing skills or learn new techniques, including a variety of drawing mediums. Jaylene will provide ample instruction and side by side assistance throughout.
Jaylene Bengtson is a retired art educator with a doctorate in Fine Art. Her formal teaching experience spans middle, high, and college level students. She now creates drawings and paintings in her home studio and hosts multiple adult workshops throughout the year. Please notify the Gallery or Instructor prior to the day you will be attending to allow for proper preparation.​

INTRO TO WATERCOLOR ($200)

This thorough beginner and intermediate friendly 6 week class is a perfect start for any new painter, or a great repertoire builder for the intermediate artist, I will use a combination of tested and proven academic principals with my own self taught techniques to improve and refine your realistic watercolor painting skills.
We will cover everything from materials and how to select them, to choosing references, using layers to build dimension, paint handling and much more. With ample side by side easel time and Q&As, we will gradually create multiple paintings, stage by stage together, while learning invaluable lessons along the way. Join me in October to take your painting to the next level and learn the joys of Watercolor!

Gear Up this Summer for a fun and educational outdoor painting adventure. Bring your favorite painting or drawing medium to 4 beautiful locations around the New Hampshire Lakes Region! "Plein Air" painting not only expands your capabilities and pushes your skills, it's one of the most exhilarating and grounding experiences an artist can have.
This workshop will begin with a thorough discussion and Q&A on necessary gear and how to prepare. While on location, you will receive guidance and one on one assistance with choosing a motif, composition, paint handling and mixing, and rendering the scene in front of you. Join me this August and become part of the world of Plein Air Painters!

Introduction to Drawing
Four Week Series- ($150)

Have you always wanted to learn to draw but never got to take the class in school? Do you draw on your own but somehow your “meant to be” realistic drawings fall short? Are you a painter who would like to improve the three dimensional quality of your still life or landscape? This workshop will make all the difference.
You will learn about proper drawing materials and the fundamentals of how to apply effective drawing techniques. After exploring the basics, you will transition to the principles of linear perspective, where you will learn how to construct 3D spatial effects. Finally, you will explore the many ways that the proper use of the value scale can further add to the creation of a form or realistic sense of space. It’s not magic, but good drawing skills are essential for the illusion of three dimensional space on a two dimensional surface.
